On Feb. 2, Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10) joined with 209 of his GOP colleagues to vote against considering H.R. 447, a bill introduced by Rep. Robert Scott (VA-3), to amend H.R. 447, commonly known as the "National Apprenticeship Act." The amendment would expand national apprenticeship system to include youth apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programs.
This vote seems to contradict the values of a legislator who has publicly represented himself as supporter of such programs. In a June 24, 2020 Facebook post congratulating graduates of SECCO Electric's graduation from the Central Pennsylvania Independent Electrical Contractors' apprenticeship program. Bills such as H.R. 447 would provide far more tangible support to graduates of apprenticeship programs than would gratuitous photo opportunities and empty encouragement to "Keep up the great work!"

According to his official biography, Perry himself is a 1980 graduate of the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech School [sic].
