Yet again, Rep. Scott Perry has demonstrated just how unfit he is to represent the constituents of the 10th District. During a subcommittee hearing on Central American migration held on Wednesday, April 14, Perry said this:
“For many Americans, what seems to be happening or what they believe right now is happening is, what appears to them is we’re replacing national-born American — native-born Americans to permanently transform the landscape of this very nation.”
Above: Perry, enjoying a 2018 lunch with Rep. Matt Gaetz (currently under federal investigation for sex trafficking) and former Trump senior advisor Dr. Sebastian Gorka (recently permanently banned from YouTube for conspiracy theory peddling).
These were not original thoughts on Perry's part. He was parroting comments made by Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson whose statements last week, implying that the Democratic party was attempting to "replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World," resulted in calls for his firing by numerous organizations including the Anti-Defamation League.
Perry in fact went one step further, implying that the Biden administration's immigration policies, including providing funding to countries to incentivize migrants to stay put, were in fact causing more migration.
As the Washington Post points out, a stunt like Perry's today degrades the integrity of his office: "It replaces the sort of considered study of a complex subject that is ostensibly the point of such gatherings with false, toxic rhetoric."
Once again Perry shows us exactly who he is and proves without a doubt that he is unfit to represent the constituents of the 10th district.
